Technical equipment of the observatory

The main instrument for night photography is a 14 inch Newtonian telescope.

This was designed, constructed and built by the great telescope builder and mirror grinder Werner Reimann.

Werner died in a traffic accident, in his honour and in his spirit his work is continued here in the observatory.

For the observations and images of the sun the 6 inch refractor is used during the day.

For this purpose the observatory has the Daystar system in combination with an energy protection filter. An artificial solar eclipse is then created in the telescope,

This makes different layers of the sun visible. The prominences (ejections) of the sun are particularly impressive to see live in the telescope.

In good weather, it is possible to observe these ejections live on the telescope.
